Welcome to Making Carrière

I think I’ve found it... you know that thing that when you speak on it, your face lights up. You know that thing you just want to keep talking about or do for hours on end. Ok, calm down we’re keeping this PG (hey mom). I’m talking about a passion I’ve felt called to pursue.

For those who have known me, you know I’ve been in Advertising for the past 10 years, hopping from city to city and sometimes countries. First NYC, then LA, Cape Town and back to LA. Some of you know that I’ve also dabbled in making a fun piece of furniture or two across this time.

Well this is me… flipping shit upside down.

I said goodbye to my previous (amazing) advertising gig & family, in that paradise that is LA, to move back to North Carolina. Get back to my family and my roots, where I plan to live out this passion and give this “furniture maker” thing a shot as my main!

Home, for me, has always been a place of solace and sanctuary. A place of joy, filled with laughter and memories shared and created with my family and friends.

That table where all the ladies in my family gather around at my Nana’s house on Sundays and Holidays, if it could speak… oooh the stories. The sofa my friends and I pile on to watch our favorite shows or gossip around a bottle of wine that holds our favorite moments and secrets.

I’ve decided I want to be apart of creating these spaces for others. Through creation and curation, I want to deliver pieces inspired from my lived experiences and my travels to tell its own tales and become a part of your story.

So join me, as I use this space to share my journey.

Some of my close friends may tell you, I’m not the quickest to open up – but this will be different. In this space, I will challenge myself. I’ll aim to share my highs (and lows) of transitioning from a promising decade-long career into an intimidating entrepreneurial space. Which, thus far has definitely felt like an emotional rollercoaster and at times a hit to the ego. In addition to the career journey, I’ll share what I’m working on and some DIY tutorials for any of you interested in trying to find the own maker in you, along with bringing some beautiful pieces for you to take home.

Hopefully as I share, I can inspire someone else somewhere ready to make his or her own leap. Inspire the small town girl to explore her creative side and forge her own career path, avenues she may have never considered. While bringing a little extra sass and color to a space where I haven't seen much of myself.  (HGTV, if you’re reading feel free to slide in my DMs).

Sooo…Welcome, to Making Carrière. The making of a craftswoman.

Thank you for being apart of this with me.

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style.
